Ullapool for West Highland Holidays
Ullapool ScotlandUllapool
Visit Scotland and see UllapoolUllapool is the gateway to the Highlands and Wester Isles and you can drive across from Inverness to Ullapool in less than 2 hrs (driving carefully and enjoying the scenery). The ferry terminal is the main route to Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides and the Isle of Lewis. Booking a ferry reservation is recommended in summer if you plan to take a vehicle over to the islands. Ullapool has a lot to offer as a holiday base for the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. It is relatively easy to drive to the north west of Scotland around Sutherland and visit beautiful and remote communities such including Achmelvich, Lochinver (not that remote), Kylesku, Kinlochbervie, Oldshore More, Durness and Cape Wrath at the tip of Scotland to mention a few wonderful places. You can spend your holiday in Ullapool and have an exciting time exploring, taking boat trips and cruises, fishing, hillwalking or for the more adventurous you can go scuba diving around the Summer Isles and the shipwrecks including The Jambo and Fairweather V as well as sea caves.

The Seaforth is one of the best pubs in Ullapool and serves a fantastic (yes it deserves this word) plate of fish and chips. The carryout service is also brilliant and we have stuffed ourselves (and fed the dogs) on a mega sized portion of fish and chips. Sit in or carry out, your choice. You can carry your meal over to the side of the harbour and watch the boats come and go, and feed the seagulls when you are finished as you will probably never get through a large portion of delicious fish and chips. Meals are served most of the time and families are welcome. Visiting and Staying in Ullapool
