In this area of Wester Ross these old building are becoming more difficult to find as they are often being converted into holiday accommodation - cottages. There are a number of books on crofting life, with one of the most popular being Crofting Life by Katharine Stewart.

Throughout Scotland and especially the Highlands and Islands you will still see old buildings, hundreds of years old, many of these buildings are still being used for keeping cows or other animals. The old barn shown above is probably not being used except for the odd sheep or two who shelter out of the bad weather.
